The weather was damp but we had another successful 5K Run today!  Thanks to everyone who came out today to the Center Grove Trails Run, "Blaze the Trails", and had a safe run/walk from Sugar Grove Ele. to Eagle Trace and back again.

Congratulations to our 1st Place Winner for the males, Mark Baranko, with a finish time of 17:56!!  And, congratulations to our 1st Place Winner for the females, Cindy Harris, with a finish time of 21:32!!

Roadrunner Timing Systems provided finish times and places.  All official times can be found at www.Indyrunner.com later today.  We'll try to post them on this website too.

Thanks to our sponsors:  The Running Company, Chick-fil-A, Performance Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation, and our White River Township Fire Department.  Special thanks to the Johnson County Highway Department and the Johnson County Sheriff Department for keeping all the participants safe! And, we thank LA Fitness for participating at today's race too.

 The slight sprinkle of rain kept a few people from attending today's race, so, we have a few wicking type T-shirts left for sale.  Please email this website or call 317-885-1290 if you'd like to purchase this year's 5K race shirt at a discount of $15 each.

 A very big "Thank You" to all our volunteers that helped plan and organize this big event to show support for trails in Center Grove.  All profits from this race will go towards the pedestrian bridge to be built on Stones Crossing Road over Honey Creek just east of the high school property.  

 You can also show your support for trails by purchasing new, approved, specialty license plates for your cars and trucks!  They will be available soon thru the BMV and for an additional $40 fee, you can have the new plate.  ($25 of this fee goes towards the Greenways Foundation which is the statewide trails organization.  More information is at www.greenwaysfoundation.org)  You can also stop by this summer at the DNR building at the Indiana State Fair to speak to volunteers for the non-profit group, Greenways Foundation, to see the progress of trails in Indiana!

June 12 5K Run/Walk to have Professional Timers! PDF Print E-mail

Center Grove Trails is planning their 2nd Annual 5K Run/Walk and we are happy to announce we will have a professional timer for our finish!  We plan to have awards for the top 3 finishers for male participants and the top 3 finishers for female participants.  Very soon early registrations will be available on line as well as payment on line.  Keep checking back! 

All profits from the race will go towards the building of another pedestrian bridge to be located on Stones Crossing Road.  The Johnson County Highway Dept. is applying for a Safe Routes to School Grant enlisting the help of CGT.  This will be a wonderful enhancement to our community allowing students and parents to walk/jog/ride bikes to and from the high school, CGMSC, and CGES!

Center Grove Trails will host their 2nd Annual 5K Run/Walk, rain or shine, on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the White River Township Fire Department's Annual Strawberry Festival held at Sugar Grove Elementary School.  This is a family fun run and welcome to all participants. 

We are working together with various groups to help build a pedestrian bridge on Stones Crossing Road and all profits from the 5K will be put towards this Community Pedestrian Bridge Project.  Check in begins at 7:00 a.m. on June 12, 2010 and on line registration/payment are on line at this website.  Individual entrance fee of $20 will include a technical race shirt if registered by May 15, 2010. 

The race route will begin and end at Sugar Grove Elementary with the biggest part of the race in Eagle Trace subdivision and the closing of one lane of traffic along Berry Road with help from the Johnson County Sheriff Dept.  We promise to have a well marked route, maps, post race hospitality, and awards to the top 3 male and female runners.  Become involved in the Center Grove community and walk or run in the Blaze the Trail 5K Run/Walk!!!

How many times have you wished there was a safe, pedestrian bridge on Stones Crossing Road just east of the School Administration building?  The current bridge is old, narrow, and unsafe for students to cross on foot or bicycle.  Center Grove Trails is working with a group of people that want to see a pedestrian bridge crossing the creek on Stones Crossing Road so that people can now have a safe way to get to the high school, middle school, and elementary school using the existing sidewalks.  The goal is to have the bridge completed by 2013!  Keep watching this website for updates to this exciting project for the Center Grove area.

Center Grove Trails had volunteers at the 3rd Annual Greenways of Greenwood 5K on October, 3, 2009 to help out with pre-registrations, mile markers, and we even had some of our own participating in the race!!!  What a wonderful opportunity to show the support for trails in our Greenwood community.  This event has grown bigger each year so mark your calendars now for next October.
